Spilavin at Hotel Hvolsvöllur
Spilavin at Hotel Hvolsvöllur is going to happen on April 22nd-25th, 2027!
Spilavin (Icelandic translation of Board Game Retreat) is an event where participants meet to play board games over a whole weekend (or part of it). And yes, this is a long weekend for our Icelanders, because the Thursday (22nd) is our First day of summer! Although it often snows that particular night! And if you are super eager, we have a lot of rooms available on Wednesday night also. The collection will be up around 7pm, Wednesday, but the celebration starts formally at 9am, Thursday.
We encourage you to bring your own games but we also have quite an exstensive collection where you can play from.
The event is quite casual with one change from previous years. The hotel is going to offer us a buffet style lunch and dinner on top of a-la-carté menu. You can choose to have an all-inclusive stay or pay for the buffet separately.
Admission
The event is now four days, and because of that, we offer four types of tickets:
- One day pass: 8.000kr
- Two day pass: 11.000kr
- Three day pass: 13.000kr
- Four day pass: 15.000kr
Included in the ticket price is admission to the event, access to over 300 board games, most with expansions and many with playmats, sodas, snack and candy. It is not allowed to bring alcoholic beverages into the gaming area from home, but the hotel gives us a generous 20% discount at the bar!
Tickets will not be refunded after January 1st. but you could ask for a name transfer if you can't make it.
Gisting og matur
We've worked very hard with the hotel to get us clearer and better prices that before. The price list can be found here.
Included in the hotel price is breakfast buffet. Addition to that, we offer both lunch and dinner buffets all days. Lunch buffet includes light meals, soups and bread and the dinner buffet varies with meat and fish courses plus vegetarian and vegan options. The chefs are great and if you have any dietary needs, please note in the registration and the chefs will take good care of you.
The Game Collection
Even though many people take their own games with them, we also bring along about 300 of our hottest games from Hilmar's personal collection. As you might see in the picture, many of them are even big-box versions, other boxes have multiple expansions and many have play mats. And of course, there are some upgraded components as well.
Special Guests
We're just finishing the contracts for our special guests for 2027 so we cannot tell you right now who they are. But we will start leaking out the information on our Facebook page and here on the website as soon as we can, hopefully in end of November, beginning of December.
